It’s rectangular. It’s white or beige. It’s longer and wider than it is thick. And you can use it alone or with friends. What am I talking about?
If you can think of something other than a mattress or a domino, please leave it in the comments below. Perhaps a tablet of some sort?
In any case, this work of art is clearly contrasting the singularity of a mattress with the plurality of dominoes that we all have. You’re now forced to imagine a multitude of other mattress-dominoes, and imagine how ridiculous it would be to play with them. Where would you even play? In a big field somewhere? Would you have to have friends help you carry them around? Is this the game for kings to play in helicopters above while menial serfs move the pieces at their commands below? Will they be allowed to sleep on them when they’re done?
Of course, it appears that the artist could’ve put more effort into planning here.
Dominoes are pretty evenly divided. But perhaps this is a statement as well- when it comes to the fight between the haves and the have-nots, the haves will only keep taking and pushing for more. This piece from Prenzlauer Berg, in Berlin, Germany, is truly deep and insightful.
